First Contact is an official Oculus experience and is used to introduce players to the Touch controllers. Players are in a retro feeling room with old-looking machines and a friendly little robot there to guide you. The robot guides hands you cartridges for a 3D printer allowing you to create fun toys to experience true presence.
This game is available on Oculus Home.
First Contact is absolutely incredible! This is the perfect introduction to using Touch controllers. The robot reminds me of Wall-E, in look and personality. For a short demo, there is surprisingly lots to do and you get a wide variety of experiences out of it. You can launch rockets, relax with butterflies, play with musical toys, and even blast targets (and butterflies) with a laser gun. These experiences show the capabilities of Touch while getting you accustomed to using the controllers. It is certainly doesn’t take long for you to get accustomed. Everything felt so natural that I found no trouble doing what the robot was directing me to and his surprise and amazement watching me was very satisfying.
My advice would be don’t skip this experience. Not only did I play with when I setup my controllers, but I have replayed it a few times and am now using it to demo the controllers to friends and family!
